Top 10 Tips to Study Smart
July 9, 2015With the PGDM 2014-16 back from their internship and all geared up for the new academic session, following are a few tips which will equip them to cope with the pressure of studies along with preparation for their final placement.
- Make a “to don’t” list – Prepare a list that contains all the things you shouldn’t waste your time on – useless tasks, unnecessary meetings, worthless phone calls, whatsapp messaging and so on. Try and consciously avoid these activities as they are tasks which literally kill time.
- Carry a notebook and pen. Be attentive in class. NOTE and WRITE down the important points discussed during the lectures. This will provide a good reference when you recall information discussed during the class.
- Get into Routine: Know when to start and stop studying. Try to begin and end each work day the same way you end other days. Make a list of what you need to do the next day.
- Learn: Ask questions. Read. Read some more. Listen to audio books. Research the material relevant to your industry. Find out more and more about the industry in which you are interested. This will help you find out more about the developments and advancements in your respective fields.
- Guard your calendar. Make sure your time is well distributed and is focused on a particular topic you choose to study. Ask yourself: “Is this how I want to be spending my time right now?” Remember: you are your calendar. So treat your calendar with respect.
- Don’t be paranoid. The bad times won’t last. However, remember that the good times also come to an end. So make the best of the time you have.
- Spend 10 minutes every day laughing out loud. Turn on Comedy Nights with Kapil, read a funny book, look at photographs of yourself as a kid. Laugh out loud and relax…
- Take a “Break” Choose one day during the week when you don’t study at all. That one day, just enjoy (meet friends, go for a cup of coffee, watch a movie etc.). Make sure it’s just ONE day. Discipline yourself to fallback in your routine and not fall out of it.
Don’t worry. Just start studying SMART. Keep the focus. We wish you best of luck.
