ABS Orientation Program 2013
July 29, 201329th July, 2013 commensurate the commencement of a new era in the history of Asian Business School with the new batch of 2013-15 of PGDM beginning their transformational journey at ABS. It was indeed great to see a class of excited, fresh and enthusiastic aspiring managers being part of the professional voyage with professional delegates in the orientation programme. The day was marked by an inspirational speech of the President, Prof. Sandeep Marwah of Asian Education Group. His passion, his junoon and his never ending zeal has always inspired everyone who has acquaintance with him. Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director, Asian Business School delivered the welcome address to acquaint the new students about what lies ahead for them at ABS. The induction programme witnessed experts from the industry to give deeper insights to the students. Mr. Rajnish Goenka, Chairman, Tobu cycles whose impeccable talk about how the new young generation has all the traits which are required to be successful filled the audience with humility and hopes. A leading name from the industry, Mr. Satish Gehlotra, Director, Gehlotra Resident, President of Sethis Group, India discussed about the cut-throat competition that lies ahead and how the students can brace themselves to grow. Prof. R.K.Singh, Vice-President, Asian Education Group has always being a guiding light for our students. The entire session was enlightened by Mr. Anoop Bhandari, First Chairman, Noida Entrepreneurs Association, when he elaborated on that students should become doers apart from being thinkers. And such thinkers who should work with complete passion and dedication if they wish to be successful.
The day also witnessed the release of our ISBN Book “ABS Management Research-Articles & Applications”, which was the effort of ABS research cell. The day ended with a highly motivational session by Dr. Anil Sethi, Founder, GK Group of companies, who left the students spell bound with his interactive activities and back to the basics approach. He threw light on the importance of honesty, gratitude, teachers, parents in our lives and how by being humble we can grow to great heights.
Day 2: 30th July 2013
In earlier times, guru-shishya relationship was considered to be a bond that was known for respect, dedication, commitment. In modern times as well, this bond remains eternal as this teaching-learning phenomena is beyond the academic curriculum, for a teacher not only has to impart the prescribed syllabi but also the knowledge that he/she has gained over the years through experience. The second day of orientation at ABS started on a similar note with a formal introduction of students with the faculty members, departmental heads and college staff. Faculty members welcomed the students, shared their experience and words of wisdom . The introductory round was followed by session on “Industry Expert Talk” wherein professionals from various industries and domains were invited to share their thoughts and experiences with the students. The topic was ““Benchmarking with Technology, Entrepreneurship & Management” . The esteemed panel of experts for “Industry expert Talk” consisted of : Mr.Rajiv K. Vij (MD) – Carzonrent (India Pvt.Ltd.) ,Mr.Feroz Khan (Global Operations Director- IS), HCL Technologies Ltd., Ms.Rimy Oberoi(Chief Learning Officer) – Oyster Learning. The session was enriching as students gained a deeper insight into various realms of working in corporate and entrepreneurship. Post “Industry expert Talk”, Indoor and outdoor sports activities were organized where students enthusiastically participated in various sports like Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Carrom, Tug of War, Pool etc. and got opportunity to mingle with each other .
Day 3: 31st July 2013
The third day of orientation revolved around the theme “SYNERGY 2013” which guided the students about the integration of thoughts. The session had dignitaries from corporate who acquainted the students with the theme of the orientation. The word of wisdom from the experts from corporate prepared the students to face the challenging world ahead. Mr. Vimal K. Pandey, CEO of VI-John group of companies shared his views on how marketers are benchmarking in the competitive world. He also spoke on how an individual should brand himself in the market. The two mantra of success that he focused on were hardwork and honesty. The next speaker was Mr. Ashu Malhotra, President- HR, Tulip Telecom Ltd. He directed the student in terms of what HR is looking in when selecting the candidate. He with his wide experience in HR also shared that it is just an attitude that sets an individual apart from others. The ladder of success can only be achieved if one believes himself or herself. He also spoke on people as biggest asset to an organization. The next speaker was Mr. Amit Shankar, CEO of Sparrow Interactive 3D he is a man of great thoughts with great philosophies in life. He mentored the student to chase their dreams. He mentioned that a person can only be successful if he does what he loves rather than what others want him to do in life. He motivated the students to raise their bar and increase their intellectual capital to be successful in life. Ms. Olga Ford, Foreign Commercial Service Office, USA Embassy was the final speaker who spoke about the US business culture and opportunities. She spoke on how to integrate with the international culture. Finally there was a vote of thanks at the end by Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director of Asian Business School for directing the students in the right direction.

Day 5: 2nd August 2013
The fifth & final day of Orientation Program revolved around the theme “Communication Way to HR”. The session had dignitary from corporate who acquainted the students with the theme of the orientation. Mr. Zeenat Siddiqui, Strategy & OD – Corporate HR, Videocon Industries Ltd. shared his views on the best practices by a management student, opportunities in HR sector, learning the required industry skills. He also shared about his real life experience and motivated students to choose for a good company & profile while they start their first job. He insisted students not to follow any shortcuts but give their 100% in everything.
