Senior HR veteran, Mr. P. Dwarakanath lends a graceful touch to the ABS PGDM Orientation Program 2019 as Chief Guest!

Part of Asian Education Group and ranked as one of the best B-schools in Delhi NCR Asian Business School (ABS) welcomed its new batch of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) by way of a grand three-day Orientation Program held from Monday, 15th July 2019 to Thursday, 18th July 2019 at its imposing campus located in Sector 125, Noida. This programme was organized to benefit the students who were about to begin a new phase in their academic life.

As part of the ABS PGDM Orientation 2019 Inaugural Ceremony held on Monday, 15th July 2019, senior HR veteran and currently the Non-Executive Chairman, GSK India and Head-Human Resource Capital, Max India Ltd. – Mr. P. Dwarakanath – graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Mr. P. Dwarakanath is the Non-Executive Chairman, GSK India and Head-Human Resource Capital, Max India Ltd. He is a senior industry leader and has mentored many young HR professionals over the year. He worked with GSK for four decades and nurtured the workforce with his rich experience across functions. He carries with him over forty years of experience in Engineering, Chemical, Pharma and Consumer Goods industry in the core functional areas of Legal, Employee Relations, Management Development, Leadership Development and HR Management.

He retired as Director-Human Resource of GSK in the year 2006. Since his retirement, he had been a Non-Executive Director of the Company. During his tenure, GSK was recognized as one of the top five Best Employers in India for people related practices for several years. He was also a member of GSK’s International HR team.

He has been actively involved in various professional bodies such as the Treasurer of All India Management Association (AIMA) and has a successful stint as President of the National Human Resources Development Network and President of Delhi Management Association.

In his long career, Mr. P Dwarakanath has won several prestigious awards for his immense contribution in the field of Human Resources – such as ‘Pathfinders Award’ by the National Human Resource Development Network; ‘HR Professional of the year’ by Mid-Day in association with DAKS, London; the ‘Career Achievement Award’ by GSK International; ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ by Asia’s Best Employer Brand Award; and ‘Chairman’s Award’ by Max India Group.

Delivering the chief guest address, Mr. P. Dwarakanath congratulated the students for joining ABS which was a part of a great institutional effort and asked the students to utilize the opportunity, have their own plan for career growth, concentrate on learning the fundamentals of their subjects well by properly understanding the concepts, execute the knowledge into practice, and get a rounded experience of education. He invoked them “not to look for only employment, but make yourself employable”.

He also spoke about the importance of international exposure in today’s world of academics and deliberated upon how and why students “need to have global standards in terms of attire, time-management and the overall professional attitude.” Here, he cited the example of fully-paid study trip to Oxford, London (UK) being offered at ABS as a step in the right direction.
